Scaling?

Monday, September 24th, 2007

Besides the site, I have been adding a few more scripts to my repertoire. This weekend I focused on creating a script that I have had in my head for a while, and would be extremely useful for some of the fabrication exercise that are to come soon. Here is the idea, and I am [...]

Yes & No

I just stumbled onto something really exciting. In my newest (not the latest, see Study Materials) AD there is an article about John Maeda’s project over at PROCESSING.ORG. Processing is not software tools that you use in a package like Illustrator (although I do love Illustrator). This is totally cook your own tools using [...]

Tiling

An interesting lexicon here is that that the word “tiling” means not only the “physical laying of tiles” but is a mathematical term [...]

Idea for Object Placement.

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Controlling objects with planes:

You will now find a link on the right to “Study Materials” with many thanks to the free wordpress plugin over at http://www.sozu.co.uk/ which not only makes some hot [...]

Benjamin Callam - Independent Study
“There reigns a great disagreement between the modern state of mind, which is an admonition to us, and the stifling accumulation of age-long detritus. The problem is one of adaptation in which the realities of our life are in question.”

About

Monday, September 17th, 2007

This site began as a means to document an independent study course that I created at the University of Maryland school of Architecture to document my interest in architecture related scripting. That specific course has concluded, but as I had hoped, that initial study provided me with the catalyst I needed to jump start an [...]
